Waikato Sunday Soccer League

In 2010 PSL played Seniles in a scheduled match in the WSSL league. At the start of the second half Dave Derecourt  for Seniles fell down with a massive heart attack, aged only 39. Players from both teams reacted quickly and started performing CPR. A doctor who happened to be on the sideline assisted and guided the players that were performing CPR on Dave.

They carried out CPR until the ambulance arrived 15 minutes later. The medical staff brought Dave back to life and rushed him to the hospital. Dave is well today and still plays. Every year PSL and Seniles play what we now call the Cardiac Cup to remind us how important CPR and life is. We encourage anyone reading this to keep up to date with their CPR training as it may be needed when you least expect it.
